Fall Ministry Update

The last several weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind for us at Loudoun FCA so I figured I’d take a moment to share some quick updates:

Huddles have kicked off!  We have relaunched huddles at Rock Ridge High School (12 students at our first meeting last week), Dominion High School, and Eagle Ridge Middle School (kicking off this week) after participation had petered out last year.  Several other schools in the county are continuing to have strong attendance at their huddles which started up and grew in strength last year, including Park View High School, Brambleton Middle School, and Seneca Ridge Middle School.
Whenever parents or students ask about huddles at a particular school and why they don’t have one or it’s not well attended, I always explain that it largely depends on student leaders.  As an area representative for Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I can’t force my way into a public school.  However, if we have a few enthusiastic leaders who are willing to help promote the huddle and invite their friends and teammates, it makes all the difference in the world.

The River Bend Huddle continues to grow in strength each year.
We even have a new teacher sponsor this year, 6th grade Language Arts teacher Ms. Koegler!

The Seneca Ridge Middle huddle just launched last spring and they're already attracting 30+ students each week this year!

Fields of Faith took place on Wednesday, October 10 at Loudoun County High School.  The evening kicked off with a rousing game of “Chuck the Duck” followed by student led worship and three student leader testimonies.  We were also blessed to have Redskins’ punter Tress Way and his family join us that evening as he shared the impact FCA had on his life growing up.  The evening was capped off with a gospel presentation from McLean Bible Church – Loudoun Campus youth pastor, Charles Holmes.  This was only the second year we have hosted this event in Loudoun and we had almost 200 people in attendance.  At the end of the night, eight students came forward to commit or rededicate their lives to Christ.  What an amazing evening!
Loved seeing our amazing student leaders out at Fields of Faith!

Loudoun FCA Baseball teams moved their practices to Leesburg so they could join us for Fields of Faith.  The boys loved the chance to hear from and meet Tress Way from the Redskins!

Loudoun FCA hosted our Annual Golf Tournament at Raspberry Falls Golf Club last Tuesday, October 16.  For the first time this year, we offered a free round of golf to coaches and athletic directors in the morning, followed by the traditional tournament in the afternoon.  It was a very full and fun day to celebrate coaches and share the vision of coaches’ ministry in Loudoun.
