Can I Just Brag for a Minute?!

Two weeks ago I shared a bit about all of the camps and activities that have been keeping us busy this summer at Loudoun FCA.  I know I mentioned it then, but after reading the blog post of one of our interns lately, I feel the need to say again how amazing our interns have been this summer!  There is no way that our small staff of four people could have accomplished everything we did this summer without the help of the Loudoun and Fairfax interns.  Working with these college students has been one of my absolute favorite things about this summer.  They are so fun, energetic, and wise beyond their years.  Their love for the Lord is evident in everything they've been working on over the past two months. I could go on and on about how amazing they are but I'd rather you read for yourself.  Here is the latest post from Molly's blog about what this internship experience has been like for her.  I hope you'll take a moment to read it and leave an encouraging comment for thi

Up for the Challenge

“So, what do you do during the summer?”   This is a question I, understandably, receive often.   Because my job is so closely tied to the schools, people often wonder and ask how I spend my summer, besides running camps.   In some ways, summertime is not much different than the rest of the year – fundraising appointments, meetings with donors, getting together with students (though this part is somewhat easier since their schedules are more flexible).   Another big piece, though, is planning for the upcoming ministry year.   One of the main strategies of FCA is “to and through the coach”.   Impacting students is wonderful, but if you can impact a coach with the gospel, the ripple effect will likely be even greater.   Yesterday I was spending time working on my ministry plan for the upcoming school year and I thought back to this time last year, when one of my goals for coach’s ministry was to start up a coach’s huddle at one of my schools.   Fast forward a year and I find myself

Hi there! It’s been a while! This past month has been a bit of whirlwind including 13 days straight of back to back camps and two consecutive weeks out of town.  I have loved camp season and got to enjoy some sweet time with my family in South Carolina but I’m back home now and eager to reflect on this summer’s camps and plan for the next ministry year.  June 25-29 was our Loudoun FCA Power Camp right here in Ashburn, VA.  Over 100 students aged 7 – 13 joined us from around 8:30am – 4pm for games, Bible study, and athletic training.  This year, kids had a choice between football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, cross country, and cheer/tumbling.     Several local youth/children’s pastors joined us throughout the week to share a morning devotional including Charles Holmes from McLean Bible Church’s Loudoun Campus.    Several of the middle schoolers attending the camp were excited to see their youth pastor walk in on Tuesday morning where he encouraged our campers that being a s
