September Ministry Updates

Loudoun FCA is off and running in this new school year.  Here are some ministry updates from the past few weeks, specifically on the eastern side of the county:

This past Tuesday was our last of four huddle leader training events that we held all over the county over the past two weeks.  Students from just about every school in Loudoun attended these trainings to learn about Gospel clarity and how to run a huddle.  They left equipped with sample lessons, games, and supplies to engage students on their campus with the hope of Jesus.

Potomac Falls High School kicked off their huddle with games, Chick-Fil-A, and introductions on Friday, September 7.  Last week they started a series on the Gospel starting with God as the Holy Creator, led by one of the new sophomore leaders.  He and another sophomore started attending the huddle last year as freshmen when an upperclassman and fellow baseball player invited them.  They were recruited to join the leadership team this year because the student leaders this year are seniors, and felt it was important to start pouring into the next generation to lead this huddle.  I seriously don’t think I could be more proud of these amazing students!

Park View High School launched their huddle with (you guessed it) games and Chick-Fil-A last Thursday, September 13.  There were many familiar faces and attending as well as some new faces and the leaders have taken it upon themselves to reach out to the other Sterling schools to start planning some multi-school FCA outreach events, like bowling and kickball.
Thanks for breakfast, Chick-Fil-A!

Yesterday morning I met with two new teacher sponsors and eight students at Dominion High School.  Eight may not sound like a large number, but these were all students interested in helping to lead the huddle this year.  Eight is also more students than ever even attended the huddle all of last year, so I am extremely encouraged about the huddle at Dominion this year.  Most of the interested student leaders are freshmen, and while freshmen typically do not lead high school huddles, I am confident in their abilities to lead in their school.  After all, this same group of freshmen are the students who started the first ever huddle at Seneca Ridge Middle School last year, so clearly, they’re seasoned veterans!

Looking ahead, please pray for good weather and potential impact for the Loudoun FCA Golf Tournament next Tuesday, September 25 and for See You at the Pole on Wednesday morning, September 26.  We can’t wait for the rest of Loudoun’s school to launch their huddles over the next few weeks!
